By nr_uk ·
What sort of jobs can one expect with a degree in Information Security? Is it a good idea to take it up?

Depends on where you want to go with it. You really need to narrow down the direction you feel comfortable with. I don't know if General IT Security is sellable as would be Kriptographics or Intrusion Detection or Data loss & Recovery. I see Jobs available all the time (here in Germany & no, English is manditory) But they seem to be look at specific areas. Determine where you'd like to be located, and see what the firms there will need or be looking for when you will be finished with your schooling. There are Jobs in that area, and they're not going away (in fact they will probably increase) Now's the time for you to decide what you're comfortable doing.

Expect?

You can't expect any job. But you can try to get a job as a network security officer. This type of position is becoming more common these days. Typically you would monitor network traffic, make sure servers are secure, configure firewalls and develop security procedures.
