I work in a very small company. there are only about 10-15 computers to manage.
I have a P4 2.8HT with 865 Intel MB and 512MB Ram, 80GB HDD. I have installed Win 2003 server R2 in that.
I have created Domain and installed Exchange server 2003.
I want to manage the systems centrally, setting policies etc. I want to restrict users from saving anything on the desktop. I want to allocate some space for each user in the AD on the server and thats where all their files are stored. I dont want to restrict My Documents because when i restrict that, many softwares which make use of it fails.
Please tell me what to do, to make the network, LAN Browsing fast and client login as fast as possible and also the transfer of data.
I also need to allow systems browse the internet through the server. i.e. having control over it.
Let me tell you what I know. I have allowed only one IP (i.e. server) in the broadband modem. So no one else can access internet directly.
I know to install third party proxy servers to manage and control internet browsing.
I have knowledge about CRUD of users in active directory, DNS settings, DHCP etc..
I also installed IIS and ASP.NET. for Exchange
Server or Sharepoint(which i may be installing later)
I installed Exchange Server actually to share tasklist in Outlook 2003. But still dont know how to do that. I have never worked with Exchange Server before.
Please help me to make the network fast and disable unwanted services for my kind of network.
