Best Remote Backup Solution ?

by optronix_quebec . Updated 18 years, 2 months ago

Hi

I’m wondering which backup software you guys would recommend for a usage scenario like this in a Small Business environement :

1) A server at our Head Office
2) My machine at home to which a USB HDD is connected

I’d like to be able to initiate a remote backup at a set time (2 AM) and have it FTP to my home computer to copy files that were modified during the night (to have a working offsite backup) and send the FTP data in a compressed stream to save bandwith.

Currently, I’ve ghosted locally the whole system to the USB HDD already since I’d like it to be a drop-in replacement in case of emergency and I’ve set up SyncBack, a nice little freeware utility (even for businesses) that’s very versatile. However the only way for it to send compressed data is to make them into zip files which I don’t want as I want a drop in replacement.

Basically, what would you guys recommend as the best backup software you’ve used/heard of that simply compresses its own FTP traffic without making the files into zip files ?

Thanks!
