Best way to stop SPAM

By California Dead Head ·
How do you stop SPAM for you company? I have W2000 exchange on a w2000 network with about 200 mailboxes. What would you recommend to filter SPAM? Software, Hardware Filter, Gateway server. What is good and what is bad? How does your company do it??

One to consider is spampal from www.spampal.org.
I have not used it personally but heard it was effective.

AFter almost 8 months of research and testing GWVA is the best I found, unfortunateky it is designed for GroupWise and Novell, not MS.

For you I would look at GW Guardian, it is also designed to run for GroupWise but requires a dual processor Win2K server (if that makes ANY sense at all). I believe it also works on Exchange but you'd have to do a search for GW Guardian to find more info.

Good luck

NOTE: Stay clear of half assed single scan solutions, they are oka yfor home but not for business as they have too many false positives, many only check RBL lists (which is terrible as RBL's will blacklist ANYONE and they are usually not kept up to date).

Try ASSP http://www.assp.sourceforge.net. I've been using it for 8 months now and it pretty much put a lid on my spam problem.
