BIG PROBLEM

Hi. I’ve had my ‘HP d135 all in one’ for 4 years. I’ve used it in my home for occaisional faxes and printing. A few months ago I noticed that when it would start to scan a page it sounded like something was dragging. But it would still fax and copy with no problem. Then a few months later I faxed a service form to my employer. He said that he could read everything BUT the part that I wrote in ink. He couldn’t make out the words. I know it’s not my ink pen (I’ve always used the same one). I did a live chat with HP (for 2 hours)and they had me do things like plug and unplug etc….and basically told me the d135 was a gonner and gave me prices on a new one. Immediately after talking to them the d135 said SCANNER FAILURE! It NEVER said that before talking to them. Now I can’t copy or fax at all! They made it worse! I have read many posts from others but nothing exactly the same as my problem. I do know that the bulb does work. Also when I try to scan from XP it says it cannot detect the scanner make sure it’s turned on and hooked up correctly (it is). If anyone can help I would really appreciate it! It’s getting expensive to go to Kroger to fax.
