BIOS password

By computab ·
This is a HP OMnibook, 4150 laptop, 333MHz, with a BIOS password that prevents access to BIOS and system starting up, floppy or hard disk, (no CDROM). I need to format the HD and reinstall Win98. There is a jumper somewhere to disable the password, but where?

Looks like the answer in the page above if not then HP has a pretty thorough knowledge base that should help.

to use this info I would need to start with a floppy disk. HP are not helpful with opening the laptop.

An old trick if it still works:
- Pull out the CPU battery for 30m.
- Turn the PC on (without the battery) for a few minutes.
- Turn it off, put the battery back in, and turn it back on.
That may wipe out BIOS back to defaults, with no password.
Good luck.
