There is no 'simple' way to reset the password on most laptops.
This is a security measure to make stolen laptops less valuable.

You either need a password cracking program,

A hardware crack,

Or the 'correct' way is to take the laptop, along with proof of ownership, to an authorized IBM service center.

Bad news!

There are three passwords than can be set through BIOS: a power-on password, a HDD password, and a supervisor password (also known as the setup password).

Per the user manual for the A21:

"If you forget your power-on password, you cannot reset it. You must take the computer to an IBM reseller or IBM marketing representative to have the password canceled."

"If you forget your hard-disk password, there is no way to reset your password or recover data from the hard disk. You must take your computer to an IBM reseller or marketing representative to replace the hard-disk drive. A fee will be charged for parts and service."

"If you forget your supervisor password, there is no way to reset it. You must take your computer to an IBM reseller or marketing representative to replace the system board. A fee will be charged for parts and service."

Having said all that, if you are VERY confident of your soldering skills, you might want to check out http://www.pwcrack.com/security_chips_ibm.shtml

Remove the bios battery from the mother board, then start the computer.Again fix the battery in its original place after switch of the

Now your bios password is disabled.
Try it and send me your suggestions through mail

You can reject all of the answers. It's not gonna change things.

If the machine will not boot you cannot run a password crack.

The battery trick won't work because they use a security chip now.

You can try the back door passwords on this site. And read about the password doom.

Remove spaces that show up in copy and paste.

Good Luck You Will Need It.
