I recently loaded one of those programs to change your boot page. Read about it in a computer magazine that said how safe it was, but I ‘ve had problems ever since and maybe you guys can help. The program didn’t work right –at boot up I had to choose between operating systems…a delay I wasn’t willing to go through each time I booted up, so I uninstalled the cute new program. That caused problems — still had the delayed bootup. In my stellar attempt at problem solving I think I did the wrong thing and created more problems…I have a freebie program called innovative system optimizer…with a program to restore your registry. I restored and now internet explorer doesn’t work right –lost the icon, only have a generic icon, lost all the favorite links although they still appear, but are dead links, reinstalled IE7 (I was running IE6 since it works with movie maker and IE7 causes problems). When I had to use movie maker I uninstalled IE7 again, which normally takes me back to IE6, but it now takes me back to a corrupted version of it. I can’t load a fresh version of ie6 from online (can I?), nor can I get it from my recovery disks for some reason.
I was able to research the original problem and change a line in my bios to get that “2 OS” error from reoccuring, had to reinstall several programs I use daily — all for a silly little bell and whistle. But I haven’t been able to figure out what to do with IE issue. Any help would be greatly appreciated.
