BIOS ROM checksum error

By laro941 ·

I have a TYAN s1854 MB and I am having problems booting up and also with my machine freezing up or rebooting in it's own. The most recent error was the "BIOS ROM checksum error" "detecting floppy drive a media INSERT SYSTEM DISK AND PRESS ENTER" and I did not have anything in drive A. I have also booted up and the hard drive was not detected. Any suggestions?

1. Try to disassemble your computer. Remove all components but Video card. When system performs checksum verification, it checks memory, PCI and AGP bus, all controllers, etc. Some new and "fency" cards may not be detected correctly.

2. Try to update BIOS. Download latest BIOS available from TYAN website, create bootable diskette, copy files and modify autoexec.bat to run update automatically.

3. Try to clear CMOS and reconfigure BIOS settings again. Actually, when you clear CMOS, system should pick default parameters (most safe).

4. If nothing work, try to contact manufacturer or seller for waranty replacement.

Good luck,
