By anansiman ·
I am working on a computer. Every time I start the computer it gives me a BIOS ROM Error and it is looking for an installation disk. I can't get into Bios or get out of the installation mode.

Well try clearing the BIOS

And starting again.

As I don't know what type of computer this is because you didn't say you'll have to read the Destruction Manual to find out how to clear the BIOS.

What type of computer?

What OS?

I assume you have a keyboard of some sort plugged in?

What is the error message exactly?

Also if this is a Desktop

And you are using a USB Keyboard you will probably need to fit a PS2 Keyboard to enter the BIOS and make Changes.

Most M'Boards do not support USB Keyboards till the OS installed on the HDD is loaded.

If the BIOS is asking for a disk

by LarryD4 In reply to Bios Rom error

If the BIOS is actually asking for a disk it my have lost all of its CMOS settings and can't recover them

The BIOS on the motherboard contains the instructions on how the computer boots and is only modified or updated with BIOS updates, the CMOS is powered by a CMOS battery and contains your system settings and is modified and changed by entering the CMOS Setup.

Check you battery on the MB and see if you can contact the manufacturer to get the CMOS settings for your motherboard
