When I boot my computer, the startup sequence shows the following error:

BIOS UPDATE DATA INCORRECT. CPUID=0000000XXX

How do you fix this????

If you are experiencing a hardware related problem, you may wish to consider updating your motherboard's BIOS. To determine whether a BIOS update is available for your system, contact the system or motherboard manufacturer.

Below is a list of popular BIOS manufacturers:

1. American Megatrends (AMI)
2. Award Software International Inc.
3. Microid Research Inc.
4. Phoenix Technologies Ltd.

you are booting correctly after the error, yes?
maybe your cmos battery is bad? do you get prompted to enter setup? that is dead give away you need new battery...
here is a test i would do to see if it is the cmos battery.
Power off computer. Turn on, see error message. From windows, pick Restart (not Shutdown). see no error message...confirms cmos battery needs replacing...

BIOS Update

My first guess is that you have a CPU installed that is not recognized by your revision of the BIOS.

The ONLY place to get a correct BIOS update for your motherboard is the motherboard or system manufactures web site.

DO NOT FLASH THE BIOS UNLESS YOU get an update that is SPECIFICALLY for YOUR MOTHERBOARD!!!

Check the readme and FAQ files for your motherboard to determine which CPUs are supported by which BIOS revisions.
