I have had a number of problems with my bios and would appreciate any suggestions on possible solutions.
Recently on rebooting my PC the BIOS failed to recognize the two hard disks installed on my PC. On swapping IDE cables, primary and secondary slots, master, slave etc. it made no difference. Next day for some reason the BIOS recognized one of my hard disks but listed it’s name with nonsense symbols, not its Maxtor model name. Then on repeated reboots I was told ‘No system disk’ despite having a functional version of windows XP on the hard disk in question. I flashed the BIOS, cleared the CMOS (via jumpers – I have a WinFast K7S741MG motherboard) and still only one of my hard disks is recognized correctly but now after POST I get to the stage of being offered a menu to start Windows normally or in safe mode etc. On choosing any option the computer then displays a blank screen and Windows XP never starts. On some occasions the computer starts to boot but the monitor and keyboard do not respond at all.
