BIOS won’t detect HDD if the pc is booting off an xp HDD

by 75.15.10 . Updated 18 years, 10 months ago

I had win2k, two hard drives, a 5GB one with windows 2000 installed and a 40GB one.
I got a new 320GB HDD and installed winXP. After getting it set up, I put my old HDDs in, but bios would only show the 5GB one, and the 40GB one just didn’t show up.

The weird thing is that there was no [NONE] in BIOS, just a blank space, so it must have noticed something…

They are all IDE hard drives with the jumpers in the correct positions.
