bios.vxd in win 98

Is the bios.vxd in windows 98 unique for each machine or can I copy this file from one pc with 98 and paste it on another pc with win 98. Mine is corrupt.

Also can I restore system files from the win 98 disk with out messing up any installed programs. If so what is the command line…
