Is there a specific registery setting for the BITS service to run. The service is set to automatic in the GPO but does not start on the local machine. When you try to start – it gives an error: “The Background Intelligent Transfer Service service terminated with service-specific error 2147500053 (0x80004015).” in the system event log. The RPC service is started and the BITS service does not show any other dependencies. When the machine is removed from the domain and placed in a workgroup, the service can be started. Then when placed back into the domain – it is stopped again and can not be restarted.
