One of my employees was getting an error message “Out of Memory” whenever he tried to print from a program. He has a Windows XP SP2 machine fully updated.
When I went in to check the printer properties for any of his 4 printers (2 HP, 1 Canon, 1 Adobe PDF all visible in the Printers section), I received a message that the print driver was not installed.
So I re-installed the drivers and the error went away. Yesterday it was working fine, this morning it wasn’t.
My question is: Why did the drivers suddenly disappear? The Event Viewer gives no indication of any printing problems, but there is an NTFS error that says I need to run chkdsk (will be doing that at lunch.) Any help would be much appreciated.
