Black screen after Windows XP logo

By decoda96 ·
PC starts OK tests memory, finds the SATA Hard Drive then tries to load Windows XP SP 2 displays Windows Logo then a black screen appears. Tried safe mode but PC hangs during loading of safe mode. Can not go into Safe Mode, tried last good configuration also unable to load.

By the sounds of things you have made a change which is interfering with the ability of Windows to load.

When you try Safe Mode do you see a bunch or writing on the screen white on black which stops?

If you do what was the last line of that listing? That is the last driver it tried to install and failed.

You can also try the Ultimate Boot CD available free here to test the Hardware and if you need to make changes to the Windows system you can also use that to make whatever changes are necessary.

remember remove the space from between ultimatebootcd and the .com for a working link. When the page opens scroll down till you find the ISO File to download and download that. Burn it to a CD or USB Stick and boot off that.
