Blank E-Mail Messages

By ccsa ·
What would cause the text on an email message to appear blank. I can read who sent it and when it was sent but the body is missing. This occurs with e-mail from two friends and email from concert ticket solicitors

If your friends outlook express setting doesn't allow HTML and the outgoing message is in HTML then it might appear blank .Tell your friend to try sending you text based E-mail .....

Generally this is a font issue. Your computer may not have the font that the senders are using, or your computer may not have a subsitute font assigned for that font.

You do not say which os you are using, but if it is win95, 98, 98se.... theni recommend that you reinstall the os on top of your os. Make sure that you backup any needed data from this system, before doing this.

If you can ask people to send in general text format, then that would help, but businesses and other solicitors may not change their mass-mailing format for one (or a few) users.

The first answer is correct. Also, something else to try: when you have one of these blank messages open, make sure your text cursor is any where in the body of the message by clicking the mouse pointer in the body of the message. Press Ctrl+A to select all text just to make sure that there is none there. If there is, and it's highlighted, you will be able to read it. If your friends are sending from a different ISP (as in my case--from AOL to Mindspring at home) I sometimes have to double click on the subject line to download and open the message. I hope this helps!
