Blank Groupwise Address Book

By hcarlson ·
I recently installed the latest Microsoft Windows and Office 2000 patches on a user computer running the latest Novell client. After this installation of patches there was no address book in Groupwise 5.5. The address book tabs are blank and the open and close address book under the file options are not available. I followed all the Novell knowledgebase articles on this problem which consisted of uninstalling and reinstalling the Windows NT messaging, Groupwise client and Outlook. I even used the Groupwise Cleaning Agent but still a blank address book. I would appreciate any other suggestions.

Blank Groupwise Address Book

Sorry I can't give you step by step instructions, but I don't have a Groupwise client in front of me.

Open up the address book and look through the menu items for one that indicates something about maintaining address books. It will give you a list of the address books that Groupwise is currently looking at. The problem, in your case, is that the NAB (Novell Address Book) is probably not one of them. Simply add that address book, and all of your addresses should populate the address book the next time you launch Groupwise.

If my very generic instructions aren't enough, please email me at wdpounds@hotmail.com and I'll get you step by step instuctions on Monday.

Hope this helps!

I can think of two possibilities. First, open GroupWise client on the affected PC and open the address book. On the File menu is a 'Services' option. Click Services and see what service is selected. If 'Novell Default Settings' is listed, select it.Close the address book and client. Reopen GroupWise client and look in the address book. The addresses should be there.

If this does not work, open Control Panel and double click the Mail icon. Check to see what profile is being used. Again, if 'Novell Default Settings' is available, select it.
