BLank Screen with Mouse Pointer Only

I have a blank screen with only the mouse pointer. The mouse responses to movement but other then that I have nothing no menu, icons, start menu , task manger absoultly nothing. This all happens after the Xp Home splash screen. It doesn’t matter what mode I load in it’s all the same, nothing! I have only found the problem on win 2k not xp home. I don’t have an install cd and need help.
