Blocking internet access to workstations

By sostermann ·
We have a small network running NT4 server. I am trying to block some workstations from the internet while still allowing e-mail. There is probably a real simple solution but I have yet to find it. Any help would be appreciated.
We have one domain running several servers. The DHCP server is running NT4. We have a broadband cable connection running through a linksys router. The workstations are running windows 95. Through the router config I can block an I.P. range but that also blocks the e-mail access.

You should be able to go to the w95 machines in question and configure a policy. and I quote "by default, to implement a domain sys. policy on computers running 95, use the w95 system policy editor to create the system policy on that operating system. These system policy changes must be saved to a file named Config.pol in the Net logon share of the PDC"

hope this helps

Probably the easiest way to do this is simply to delete the iexplore.exe file from each of the machines. The file is in C:\program files\internet explorer\iexplore.exe.

Hope this helps,
Gary

If you have a SOHO or firewall, you could block port 80 to those IP addresses.
