Blocking Morpheus, Kazaa, etc.

By SciFiMan ·
My Sonicwall has the port for Napster which I deny. Can anyone tell me the ports to block for the other common file-swapping programs?

Thanks much!
David

The easiest thing to do would be to block all ports except for the ones that are needed or used.

As poster number 1 says, that is the easiest thing to do. However, a more important reason is that it's the *secure* thing to do. Lots of applications/scripts/worms/viruses/etc. like to call the mother ship and give up your information whether or not you want them to. (A lot of them bury the permission in the EULA that all of us "read" during the installation.)

Anyway, to answer your question. TCP 1214 for Morpheus/KaZaa.

You can block basically all Gnutellanet clients by blocking these ports 5550, 5552, 5554, 5556, & 6660 thru 6669. Port 6346 is the primary port for Gnutellanet.com
