Blocking Spam and Viruses in Lotus Notes

By bldsm ·

We run Lotus Notes. We have 2 web sites, one secure and one insecure. The insecure one has generic email addresses listed on it which bring in data from the web site. As well as data the email addresses bring in heaps of spam and viruses to our Lotus Notes Accounts.

How can we stop this, apart from cutting the web site email addresses?

Many thanks

If you have e-mail addresses LISTED on your webpage, you will get spammed. You should have those e-mail addresses changed to links - "E-mail me" that will redirect it to the proper e-mail address.

People use page crawlers to surf the web all day long to pull off addresses on the internet. Then sell those addresses to every Tom... and Harry.

You have a few options. Change the above and give new e-mail addresses to those affected. Not a quick fix, but more than likely, they will sign up for free crap on the web yet again...

Best solution would be to use hardware instead of software:
(remove any spaces if they appear in address).

Hardware boxes that block spam are better due to the fact that half of them charge a one time fee for the box. Software programs for notes charge a "Per User" and yearly fee. Which is a complete crock to pay for something you own and over and over again.

Look for a Lotus Notes compatible Spam box.

Good luck
