Blocking user access to adult sites

By ashutosh.raina ·
I have a few users in my organization that just keep breaking the rules and accessing unappropriate sites on the net. They have gotten wise and delete their history, cookies and temp files trying to cover their tracks.
We need to have proof thatthese people are accessing sites on work time that is not proper.

The stations are Win98 and server is Red hat LINUX 7.
Is there a way to track the use of these users without them knowing that or just blocking these sites using IP chains

Blocking made easy!

Find an older PC with at least a P233 MMX CPU, 128 Mb ram and a 6 Gig hard drive. Install 2 network cards. Go to Mandrake's download page on their site,
( , and get a copy of Mandrake's S.N.F. (Single Network Firewall).Install will take about 15 minutes. Complete the install as indicated and log into the firewall via the web-browser on any workstation. Mke sure the workstation is connected to the LAN network card
which you selected during install. Set up the firewall, and activate Squid, then activate Squid-
-Guard. Once your install and setup is complete, go to, and download the blacklist. Install the blacklist on the firewall,
making sure that you copy the blacklists into the appropriate folders, and that your permissions are set correctly.

You now have the ability to block all types of web-sites, control or eliminate downloads, manage your bandwidth, and protect your network from hackers.
