Blue screen

Hi
I have tried to install a new motherboard, CPU, memory etc... and every time I get a blue screen and cannot continue even in safe mode. I am running XP sp2 256mb 120gb hdd.Is there something I can do to add the new hardware sucessfuly?

Is this with a new install of Windows? If not then IDE controller driver is likely to be different from what you were previously using which would account for the blue screens. If it is a new install I suggest trying to get hold of another stick of RAM and trying that.

You can't boot XP from an instalation made on another motherboard.

ghimpe is correct, but I checked link he provided and found it lacking. When I change motherboards to a different model, I do a repair install of Windows. It's a good idea for Win9x and Me, but mandatory for Win2K and XP.

Here's a link with detailed instructions for a repair install of XP. You will have to reinstall any Service Packs or updates that are not on XP CD.

If you have installed XP SP2 and it is not on XP CD, you will need to borrow an OEM CD with SP2 or slipstream SP2 onto your XP CD.
