Blue Screen in Windows ME ???

By Everett Alvarez ·
I recently upgraded from 98se to Me. Now when i try to shutdown or restart i get a blue screen like NT4.0 The blue screen reads like this:
kebugcheckex: called by c0029cbc
Error code is 44
Parameters: cf574660 000
System Haulted.
The only thing i have left to do is turning the pc off and wait at lease ten seconds and turn it back on. I just feel uneasy since something is going to corrupt soon, if i don't find a solution soon. please help me!

Blue Screen in Windows ME ???

If the computer works normal under other OS, then it's most likely a video driver problem. Try the video card's manufacturer web site for a driver written for WinMe or, if they don't have any, for Win2K.

Blue Screen in Windows ME ???

When I read this, I just laughed out loud. Only because I get the exact same thing! Its not the Video Drivers, since I am running a GeForce256 with the Detonator3 Drivers, and have had Me on several other systems, which did the exact same thing. I have had Me for 3 Months now, and only get this occasionally. I have pinpointed it to several things, however, I am not sure which is the correct assumption, for it happens so infrequently.
With two separate motherboards, a TYAN with a Celeron 700 and an AOpen with an AMD K6-2 450, two separate Hard Drives, two separate video cards, and the only connecting link, being my Lexmark USB printer, I assume that the printer is the problem.
HOWEVER, this error only happens OCCASIONALLY, and whether or not I use the printer regardless. BUT, since I have updated the printer drivers, I cannot last recall seeing that wonderful blue screen. The annoying part is scan disk running from when I am TRYING to SHUT DOWN!!
This error seems harmless nonetheless, since I have not experienced the stop at any time while Windows is running, and have noticed no corrupted data. I recommend trying the Critical Updates that Microsoft provides, since it may have been from those which has solved my problem. Other than that, I have no IDEA what is causing this. It seems like an interesting bug with ME. Lets hope someone knows a fix!!

Boot the system and when the blue screen comes up locate the parameters and read across to see what driver it is refering to.
A device driver is causing the problem and is not being recognized by WIN ME.
