Go to another machine and download the updates to the bios and then see if you can boot into safe mode, select the step by step configuration and answer all lines with y and see if this will work for you.

I have run into this before. They are Virtual Device Drivers. To fix the particular problem you have to fiure out what piece of hardware is causing the proble. First run your BIOS and see what is turned on for your MB. Do one thing at a time before going on to the next item. First try disabling USB in your BIOS. Then try to reload your OS. If it works then great!! If not then check to see if you have integrated LAN on your MB, if you do then try disabling that in BIOS as well. Lastly try disabling the Power save features of your MB. If these solutions don’t work then it may be time to replace your MB.

I see that you have several questions on here all related to the same problem. Initially I would say your problems started when you tried to install your soundcard drivers. Then afterthat all heck broke loose and now you can’t load anything on your machine. Your first option should be to suspect your memory modules since all your problems are related to memory.

If you want to beat a dead horse then here is my advice. First disable any on board devices in your BIOS (USB LAN Power etc…) Then take out every ISA and PCI card out of your system before you reload it. Leave in only the Video card. If you still get your errors then you have a motherboard or a memory problem. To determine which is the problem take out your memory andeither replace it with new modules, or take it to a computer store and have it checked. The store will tell you if it is good or not. (Call ahead before you go to make sure that they can do this check.) If your problem is not memory, then there is something wrong wit

      Hi,

Sounds like you kave an AMD K6II>350Mhz.
If so, get the update patch from amd.com
or microsoft. You can also disable the L1/L2
caches in the BIOS if you need to use that PC
      to get online with.

Have encountered this and many others freaky errors and crashes w/ AMD 400 and up,

After much headache confusion found the answer on the LAST PAGE (pffftt) of a Shuttle Soc7 MB manual, a last minute addition stating the K62 400+ needed to have the voltage set to 2.4 instead of 2.2!!!

Found it amazing AMD didn’t inform sytem builders of this themselves.

      Frustarting huh?

try it, you’ll be pleased with the results.
BTW, if memory serves me , I think the MB manual I mentioned was the Spacewalker Shuttle 591 or 591p soc7(last page)

      Happy teching
