Blue Screen Of Death.

By DDillon ·
I'm getting the blue screen when I access the internet on my NT workstation with SP6A and the latest version of IE. The blue screen states that there is an error in the non-paged area of memory. Any ideas anyone?

Need more info but I would guees your install of IE is corrupt especially if you only blue screen when accessing the internet. I would uninstall/reinstall IE How long ago did you install SP? Could be that a 3rd party driver file was overwritten during the install. Try going back to 6?

First, run ScanDisk to iron out any hardware errors that might have corrupted your stuff. Then, figure out whether you installed IE or the SP last.

Service packs are strange things, because in theory the SP installer looks at what you have and updates what needs to be updated. As soon as you install something else, the SP may need to be reinstalled. BUT, if the SP is out of date compared to the other software, it may create new problems.

In other words, installing IE 5.x after SP6a is not the same as installing SP6a after IE 5.x. Therefore, figure out which one you installed last, reinstall the other one, and test it.

Other tests to try: Can you open HTM files from the hard drive? Can you use your browser or the command line to FTP the Internet? This will help narrow down whether the problem is in the browser, the OS, or some API between them.
