Request for Clarification

First, re-seat the memory and try again. If that doesn't work then try each stick individually. If either of those works I recommend running memtest on it double check the memory, however, if it still wont boot more information will be needed.

The default OS for that model was XP, is that what is still on it or has it been updated to vista or w7?
Does the BSOD provide any additional information such as a driver that caused it?
Under the drives tab is sata operation set to normal or compatible?
Also, please verify that the bios is showing the correct amount of memory that is installed in the system.

When you replaced the Battery

Here I'm assuming it's the BIOS Battery right?

Did you open the BIOS and reset it to at the very least the Current Data & Time and then save the changes as you exited the BIOS?

If not then the system will have a date which the OS can not accept and the thing will fall over.
