blue stop error

By byteside ·
I am working on a computer which keeps getting a blue stop error. I have not seen it yet but the person who owns it says she gets it all the time. The only things she installed lately are the HP printer and Gyrtools mouse. Both things failed. I am assuming that one if not both are the problem. I used add and remove to uninstall both printer and mouse. Printer appeared to uninstall but files are still loccated in the c: directory. The mouse will not uninstall. When I try I get some message saying it is missing files. How do I get rid of both these programs completely? Also Is there a way to see what the blue stop error said without it acually comming up?

HP includes a tool with most of its new printers that totally removes the installation. It is on the cd or you can download it from their site.

Does the stop error say something about "IRQ Not Less Than or Equal"?

In my experience, there was no way around this issue until I put a USB 2.0 card in the PC and put the printer onto the card. Then the problem went away completely. I used a Belkin card.

This has been discussed in lots of forums around the web, but the only solution I have seen is the USB card.

Try a restore point prior to printer and mouse installation.

That is one of the better XP features. Works in many cases.

No it did not say anything about IRQ Not Less than of equal. It did not even mention a driver or file or anything. Just that something caused an error and the stop error code. I had trouble reproducing the error untill I tried to connect to the Internet using AOL. Error poped up right away.

I did try the restore point before mouse and printer was installed and now the computer is royaly messed up. Can not even boot into windows unless in safe mode. It says it was not able to restore to such & such date and no changes were made but it is in worse condition now because i can not get into windows. I am going to reinstall windows.
