Bluetooth tethering viable?

By Cabanas$ ·
Hi all,

I do have a bit of a chalenge/issue that I need some help with, because I cannot find a solution.

Using the BB Desktop software I find it is not possible to tethering (bluetooth connection) the internet (using the BB has a modem) or to synchronise files. It does not connect at all!

Or having a windows 7 alternative to use the Blackberry Curve 8520 has a modem.

Below are details of my issue:

Am using Windows 7 Pro 32 bit on a Dell XPS M1330 and with a BB Curve 8520 OS v5.0.0.681, platform 5.2.0.67 after several attempts to update the drivers that are currently installed:

Dell Wireless 355 Module with Bluetooth 2.0 +EDR Technology
C:\Windows\system32\DRIVERS\bthport.sys
C:\Windows\system32\DRIVERS\BTHUSB.SYS
C:\Windows\system32\drivers\btusbflt.sys
C:\Windows\system32\fsquirt.exe
Microsoft Bluetooth Enumerator
C:\Windows\system32\DRIVERS\Bthenum.sys

I can not update either because there isn't the option to update them.

If I go through the "Computer management" console it tells me there is NO drivers installed = the "Bluetooth peripheral device" as no drivers installed. If I try to update the driver/s from here using the drives above it will not recognise them and if I search on line for drivers it will tell me that it could not find drivers for the device.

The drivers above mentioned can only be seen through the "bluetooth devices" window.

From the Computer management console this is the info for the driver details:

"The drivers for this device are not installed. (Code 2

There is no driver selected for the device information set or element.

To find a driver for this device, click Update Driver."

I can use BT to send and receive files from paired devices, including the Blackberry handset.

When paired with my laptop the device will not be displayed in Explorer and in the Bluetooth devices window the BB is showing with a partial icon instalation (no driver installed). I thought that the Blackberry Desktop Software would "iron out" this driver prob but it did not.

Maybe someone can bring some light into this because Dell couldn't.

Regards
