Macintosh System 10.4.9
I had been using Firefox 2.0 all afternoon, and then I noticed that I could type a search in the Google sidebar, but nothing would happen when I pressed Enter (usually, the search begins if I do this). Then, I could open the window to, but couldn’t add a bookmark. This kind of quirkiness was not unusual…upon restart, it’s been OK. However, I stayed online, and on one of the websites in another tab, the display was irregular. It was as if it turned to a “text only” display of some sort. I closed out of Firefox, and I noticed that the dock, that I long ago changed to being small icons along the left side of the desktop was now the default large icons, with the default icons, at the default location at the bottom of the desktop.
What happened? It seems like a virus of some kind, although I just updated my virus software a couple of days ago. However, I noticed that there has been a OS security update lately, and I just installed that. After the fact, though. I used the Firefox support to restore my bookmarks into Firefox, but now there’s the issue of saved passwords…the dock issue is relatively simple. Any ideas?
