Boot diskette for W95 w/ cd-rom support?

By Shanghai Sam ·
OK - I should know this, but my brain is coming up blank. I have a c: drive that NEEDS to be formatted and 95 re-installed. I have the cd, have a startup diskette, but no cd support when I boot from it. I put mscdex.exe on the floppy, and put in theautotexec.bat, but can't find a "cdrom.sys" file on the c: drive to put on the floppy for the config.sys to read .... HELP! (mitsumi cd-rom fx4830)

Boot diskette for W95 w/ cd-rom support?

It requires that you have drivers in the config.sys file and a load of MSCDEX in your autoexec.bat file
lines from
config.sys line
device=sbide.sys /p: 1EB,11 /d:CD00
autoexec.bat line
mscdex /d:CD00
hope this helps

Go to www.windrivers.com. They have a universal cd-rom drivers there. Pretty easy setup.

If all else fails, you could go to www.bootdisk.com and download a 98 startup diskette. This has the generic cd-rom support on it.

Good luck to you

Hi,
The easiest way is as such:
From any Win98 create a boot disk, Put it in your Win95 machine, boot up, choose start PC with CD rom support.
Format drive c: and re-install 95.
Done.
No need to edit or get any extra files, I do it all the time.

hi
i have made a boot up diskette with cd rom support for windows 95. this is easily done all you have to do is go to www.fixwindows.com and click on the windows 95 menu. look for the sight that says "create a bootable startup disk with cd support". there is all the procedure to get your disk done.
