Boot from SATA HD after pc build?

By mattyboy_w ·
I am building a new pc, my specs are : ASUS Striker extreme mobo, and 2 SATA 2 HDD (in RAID 0). I need to know if I can boot vista ultimate from a SATA DVD burner and install it onto the 2 HDDs without the need for any drivers. Will it all work, or do i need to buy a floppy drive and install SATA or RAID drivers on it?

No you will need drivers

Depending on what the RAID Drivers come on will be the deciding factor on what you need. You may be able to copy them onto a Thumb Drive and load them from there, though they will need to be copied to the Root of any device that you use.

Vista Enterprise asks for the A Drive to load the SATA or RAID Drivers from as the default option, and as I haven't played extensively with Vista I'm not sure if it's possible to alter that option but as I always fit a floppy I can not see any reason not to use one. They are very useful when the system falls over and you can use a floppy to fault find where it takes far more to make and use a Bootable CD or DVD.
