Boot from Virtual PC/ VMware HDD image

    Locked

    by laserboy_007 ·

When I load virtual machine ( Vmware or MS virtual PC ) , it makes both host and guest machine (OS) too slow that I cannot work with them. The main reason is because I load them from my laptop which doesn`t have enough hardware performance. How can I make my laptop boot from virtual HDD images ? is there anyway to convert virtual HDD images to Norton Ghost image or Standard image format that I can clone it on my disk ?

    thanks

Not sure if its still called this but used to be VMWARE had a version that you would boot into and then load the image. Never heard of any other way though..

pretty sure its not vmserver, not sure what vers of product that is.

problem with ghosting it is once you install it on your pc the hardware will be different since vmware uses its own generic drivers. You would either have to prep the system first using universal imagin(strips HAL and runs sysprep) utility and then ghosting it. Or else use acronis to image the drive and then use their universal system restore add in to restore it to diff hardware.
