Boot Sector scan on a restricted Win 200

By jdwilson ·
If you have a Win 2000 pc with a restricted user account. How can you get Norton 2000 to scan the Master boot records. I do not want to give the user admin. access to run Norton then have to restrict them again. Is there a way to give Norton 2000 Administrative access so it can run on a schedule?

Thanks,

Boot Sector scan on a restricted Win 200

Since Win2k has the HAL (hardware protection Layer), certain applications are blocked from accessing the hardware directly. (ie. scandisk, norton disk doctor). I know that some norton programs like Norton Utilities allow you to create a boot disk. You can try booting off the disk and then scanning your hard drive.

Hope this helps.
