Boot to the network via disk

By Brian Lenon ·
I want to be able to boot to our network server to image computers using Norton Ghost images. I can get to the norton multicast server without a problem but I am trying to log on to the network so I can map a drive to the images and then do the transfer of the image drive to drive without having to use the multicast server. The only problem I am still encountering is logging on to the network woth the correct drive mappings. any Ideas will be welcome.

Thanks

Boot to the network via disk

Brian,

I do the same thing at my location. first thing I did was make a Win98 or a DOS boot disk. I then set up the disk to load all proper drivers for the actual NIC which then logs me onto the network. But I then make my own mappings. Once logged on, I just ended the batch file with a
NET USE M: \\SERVER_NAME\SHARE
For example, under 3Com's knowledgebase, if you are using a 3C905X nic, the article explaining how to set up a bootable disk to an NT network using TCP-IP is 1.0.6074047.1848507. Just go to www.3com.com and register (free) for the KB

Hope this helps.
