Boot Up Problems - Need some help.

By tnosbor ·
I'm having a little bit of a problem I haven't encountered before. Upon startup of the computer, I get an error message:

"NTDLR IS MISSING" (ctrl-alt-del to restart)

Now I've been using a USB drive to boot up my computer, but it's time I get this working again.
I've tried a few of the steps outlined at this page: http://www.computerhope.com/issues/ch000465.htm
but cannot find either 'boot.ini' or 'ntdlr' on the root of my HDD. Any thoughts? Thanks in advance for the help!

The files are hidden . . .

Navigate to Start > Control Panel > Folder Options > View [TAB] > scroll down to and uncheck 'Hide protected operating system files'. Click 'Apply' then 'OK'.

This will allow you to see the files you are looking for.

By the way, it's NOT NTDLR you are looking for - it's NTLDR.

Good luck!
