Bootable CD in windows xp

By steven ·
When you install windows "any version" it gives you the option to make a startup disk. It wants to make the startup disk on a floppy. My problem is that I don't have a floppy drive and I do want to have a start up disk. I do have a cd burner. Does anyone know how to make a start up disk on cd?

Here is the link to microsofts boot Disk page.

In your case however the Windows XP Setup CD provides the same functionality (plus some) as the Boot disk set.

I don't want a floppy boot disk. I want to make a bootable cdrom. The setup cd is fine, but it takes too long. I don't want to go through the setup process just to start windows.

The following website offers a very in depth boot cd builder. http://www.nu2.nu/pebuilder/ If all you need is a simple boot CD you can just take a bootable floppy (Windows 98 etc.) and use Easy CD Creator or an equivalent CD burning app to create a bootable CD from the floppy disk. Check you burner apps help menu for instructions on burning bootable CDs.

Also, check out the links at www.bootdisk.com

Another option, is to create a bootable USB flash drive.
