Booting a Dell Computer

by earlnorman . Updated 18 years, 8 months ago

When trying to correct a network problem with a Dell 2400 to access DSL service, something happened to the dell computer. Now it will not boot. I try a rescue disk, but the dell starts to boot up, and then I have only two options, press F1 or F2. When I try F1 it repeats the “strike F1 to retry boot,
F2 for setup utility” . When I change the set up options to get the computer to boot to the CD so I could reboot on the set up OEM disk from Dell, nothing happens but I get the same strike …. above.

This machine is a pentium with 1 gig of ram, 80 gig hard drive with two DVD & DVD writers.

What to do? This machine was running XP professional for several years.

Thank you for your time.

Earl
