booting into OS 9 on a Titanium Powerbook

by kwarren84 . Updated 18 years, 5 months ago

I just bought a used 867 Mhz Titanium G4 Powerbook, and I haven’t been able to get it to boot into OS 9, even though it’s supposed to be able to. I re-installed OS X and 9 from the original CD’s, and it still wouldn’t work.
When I try to boot into OS 9, it shows a gray floppy disk icon with a flashing question mark. And then when I try to do an “option” restart, it can’t find OS X on the hard drive, so I have to boot into OS X from an external hard drive before it can find the other OS X.
When I did the re-install, I wiped the hard drive clean, but it didn’t ask me to install the OS 9 drivers like it does when you wipe the hard drive from Disc Utility. Do I have to go back and wipe the hard drive from Disc Utility? Would that actually work? I just figured things would work right from the install CD. Please help!!!
