Possible problems

by Toivo Talikka In reply to booting problem

Have you checked that the CPU fan, sitting on the top of the heat sink under which the processor is, is working? If it is not working, the CPU may be overheating and then shuts itself down to prevent any damage to it.

There may also be a problem with the power supply. Try swapping it, make sure that the power supply is large enough, say 400W or 450W for the needs of your PC.

If the problem continues and if it looks as if there are problems on the hard drive, you may want to try pressing F8 during the startup to get in to Safe Mode and select to check the hard drive for errors.

If you cannot get into the Safe Mode, the best thing is to remove the hard drive and attach it as a secondary drive to another PC and scan it for errors there.
