booting problems with winXP pro

my desktop works fine however from last few days i m facing trouble to boot my computer,sometime it does but it doesn't.
plz help to troubleshoot this problem.

You need to provide a bit more info.
Problem may arise from a few different reasons such as - Recent hardware, driver, software update etc...
Recent microsoft patch, update that was installed automatically or manually to your system.
It may also indicates a hardware problem as well - such as CPU, Memory, Power supply.
Do yo get any errors in event viewer?
Did you changed some configuration?
Did you tried to run fix MBR command?
When it is not booting up did you try to boot to safe mode?
What happens when it is not booting - I mean at what stage your computer hang, and what do you get on the screen?
What did you try to do to resolve the problem?

thanks for replying my question...
i tell what ecxatly the problem is...
i haven't made any change in the hardware as well as in software configurations..
wenevr i try to boot only the green light of CPU blinks and then Fan get started and then after some tht green light goes off.
then i opend the cabnet took the RAM out...
it was dirty so i cleaned it with soft cotton cloth....and put RAM once gain to cabinet and tried to start the computer it works...
but after 15 minutes i got some vertical lines on the screen and system was not at all
workin then i hard boot the system...
still not able to boot
tried 2 or 3 times it works...
it is not relieable the it is going to work
today or not..
plz help me....
i m not aware of hardware however i have good knowledge of software...
plz guide me the step tht i can do to make my system working....
