Bootlog failure code

By tecalote ·
Can anyone tell me exactly what a failure code 0016 in the BOOTLOG.TXT means? A technical explanation that would help me resolve a bootup problem please, not the stock answer I found at the MS site saying this is normal and to ignore it.

Cannot give the code 0016
This is usually a driver that did not load
Go To Start>Run,then type in BOOTLOG.TXT,it will show a list that you can reference the code to.

The entry in the BOOTLOG is following MARTLET.TTF, not a driver, but if the error means it didn't load that may help. I'll try to confirm it, if it does I'll cough up the points.

The following is a list of failure codes that may appear in the BOOTLOG.TXT file

11 Invalid .EXE file (non-Windows .EXE file or error in .EXE file image)
12 OS/2 application
13 MS-DOS 4.0 application
14 Unknown .EXE file type
15 Attempt in protected (standard or 386 enhanced) mode to load an .EXE file created for an earlier version of Windows

17 Attempt in a large-frame EMS mode to load a second instance of an application that links to certain nonshareable DLLs already in use

This is a good list and while useful it doesn't list the error code I'm looking for. The system I'm working on is a W98 OS and these codes are for W3.x. Thanks anyway.

Additional info: The system is a W98SE OS and the Bootlog entry is for MARTLET.TTF.

TechNet lists those codes as relating to Windows 95.x Retail Product. Since Win 98 is built on the same kernel as 95, wouldn't the codes apply? And, of course, I assumed that 16 = 0016. Regardless, if you're getting an error trying to load a TrueType font, reinstall your fonts and see if that doesn't clear up the problem.

Hmmm, what criteria did you search Technet with? When I searched Technet, (local install and web based), I could only find them listed under W3.x

Martlet is a true type font that did not load when the system booted,I agree with the other answer to reload the font, but I would use the Find,Files or Folders and the type in the file name,it will show in the fonts folder and then double click on it and reinstall the font,or if not using use windows explorer and delete the font,if you are not using it.
