Hi,
Try the BIOS password setup. This will stop the computer from even starting.
Enter BIOS then look for something like STARTUP PASSWORD.

Hi

Have you seen this TechRepublic article:

http://techrepublic.com.com/5100-6270-5139996.html

The computer will boot, but a user cannot use the computer without providing a password.

Good luck

Answer 1 would be the best option. Win98 itself is inherently weak in this area. Even if you required logons per answer 2 a user could boot with a dos disk and still have access to the hard drive. To prevent any access to the hard drive (including removing the drive and putting it into a different machine would require encryption. There are many commercial and freeware apps that can perform this function. Just do a search for win98 freeware encryption.

Cheers.
