Break wall into "Job Market"

By gmoe13 ·
I am new to the computer field, A+ and Network+ certified, I have about 6 months working experience in the field. I am taking evening classes for my MCSE Windows 2000 certification. What would be the best avenue to take while looking for a job with limited working experience, I would like to start as soon as possible.

Area's of initial interest might be a
Help Desk, PC Support, Jr. LAN support or
NT4.0 to Win2k Rollout.

Check flipdog.com, monster.com, dice.com
for online jobs by skill, location ect.

Depending on your location you might consider
contact work which would give you new tasks
every 6 to 12 months. Once you find your
nitch you can opt for a perminent position

Good Luck,
Mike

gmoe - You said??What would be the best avenue to take while looking for a job with limited working experience??
Your 6 mos working experience is a limiting factor, but not a total wall. Several vacancncies await you, but be satisfied starting at the level that your education supports, but the job experience limits. That is, only 2 or 3 rungs up the computer ladder.
Go to several Professional Employment Agencies. It costs you nothing to ask questions, probe, and maybe you'll get a direct hit. Do not pay them anyhting until you have viewed their vacancy list.
To many computer people are tech minded and business dormant. Employment is a business, computers is a technology. Putting the two together cannot be accomplished without strong communication between you and the computer employers.
First, and ATTRACTIVE resume. Then mail them, hit the bricks, visit the Agencies, the Computer Companies. But do not sit at home and expect your phone to ring unless you invest aggressive initiative.
Have you made a list of Computer Companies?

If you're willing to start low, most companies tend to hire PC Installers, Network Technicians, Jr. Helpdesk, and such positions. They don't pay well, but they'll get you experience. Use the job boards!
