Breaking into the I.T. Field.

By malhuneidi ·
Hello all.
I am graduating with a B.S. in Computer Engineering with a Secondary Field in Business Administration.
I have no I.T. experience or training.
What I do have is programming experience and the will and motivation to succeed in the I.T. Industry.
I have looked at some Microsoft I.T. certifications (MCTIP) but i'm not sure if that would be the best way to break into the field.
Finding an internship is something I would like to do but proves to be difficult due to my immigration status.
I was wondering what the best way to break into the I.T. field might be?
What are the most in demand certificates for someone that is new to I.T.
Any advice would be greatly appreciated.
Thank you.
