Bribe-Gate and a Corrupt Obama White House

By maxwell edison ·
Joe Sestak of Pennsylvania was offered a federal job in exchange for dropping out of the Democratic Primary race against the Obama preferred candidate, current Senator Arlen Specter.

Andrew Romanoff of Colorado was offered a job in exchange for dropping out of the Democratic Primary race against the Obama preferred candidate, current Senator Michael Bennet.

Are there any others?

Former Illinois Governor Rod Blagojevich is going to trial and is facing a lengthy prison term for doing the same thing - or a similar thing.

Chicago Style politics is in full swing in Washington D.C.

U.S. Code 600:

Whoever, directly or indirectly, promises any employment, position, compensation, contract, appointment, or other benefit, provided for or made possible in whole or in part by any Act of Congress, or any special consideration in obtaining any such benefit, to any person as consideration, favor, or reward for any political activity or for the support of or opposition to any candidate or any political party in connection with any general or special election to any political office, or in connection with any primary election or political convention or caucus held to select candidates for any political office, shall be fined under this title or imprisoned not more than one year, or both.

What should happen? What do you think will happen?

And where are the current-day reporters, Woodward and Bernstein; the current-day editor, Ben Bradlee; and the current-day newspaper, The Washington Post?

I, for one, am not at all surprised. Disgusted but not surprised.

Have you heard that our President just appointed 2 MUSLIMS to Homeland Security posts? Did you know that not only do they want to build a mosque at Ground Zero but that they want to have the opening ceremonies on 9/11? While I certainly don't want any innocent civilians hurt, I hope someone blows it up if they really do build it.

kinds of corruption

I don't think this is the kind of corruption maxwell was thinking of. As for the mosque, think of the Emperor William Memorial Church in Berlin. It got bombed by the Allies during WW II. After the war the church leaders decided to leave the ruins standing as a sign of "the judgement of God". When as many Moslem leaders have suffered from Al Qa'ida and the like as Lutherans suffered under Hitler... my idea is not clearly formed.

So...

All MUSLIMS are terrorists, right.

Just like all Americans are fat greedy hicks who were happy to fund terrorists as long as the operated off us soil.

You not? - well then there you go.

Why build a mosque anyway?

No, that's not what I'm saying

But how could anyone be so insensitive that they'd want to do this?

You might want to fact check this

The mosque in question is being built from an old burlington coat factory location that happens to be 2 blocks away from Ground Zero.
In 1989 there was a proposal that the 152 year old building be given historic landmark status, but a decision was never made. Fast forward to now, someone decides they want to do something with it and NYC officials realize oops, there's a outstanding request on there that was never completed and it predates the demolition request by nearly a decade.

Politics....compound word consisting of Poly, meaning many, and ticks which are blood sucking creatures.

Why are you still surprised that the government is inept, inefficient, corrupt, and completely devoid of worthy leaders? Politicians dont train for years to become leaders, they train to get themselves a job.

I've long had the opinion that no real leader would ever be able to deal with the shenanigans of the existing US government. My only hope is that in this information age the amount of bull cant be covered up and a pissed off new generation of leaders will cause a revolution from the inside of the beast.

Of course if you want to wipe out most of the incumbants, just have the FBI do a thorough background check for felony crimes against all members of the legislative and presidencial branches. That should thin the herd.

I'd not be surprised

if this kind of thing hasn't been going on since the inception of this country. What has changed is that it's getting harder and harder to keep it secret.

What if the Bush Administration did such things?
