Broken HTML Pictures

I have a small web site started using strictly HTML, no Front Page, and it mostly works. However I have a page devoted to pictures and some of the pics appear with the broken x window. These pictures are all visible and work great from my c drive. When I upload them to the website they seem to be broken. I have checked the location and the path is correct, names are correct. I have placed them in a table format and have played with some size settings and triple checked the path. One broken picture has alink to the larger full screen pic and the link works fine but the pic on thepage does not work.
