Broken integrated monitor control.can't get to bios to change video setting

By jordan_pollard ·
I have a Compaq presario 5800 series with windows 98 installed. The integrated monitor controller connection is broken and I can't get to bios to change video settings because the monitor is blank but I know the computer is running fine. i have a PCI video card but the default bios video setting is AGP and i can't see anything to get to it to change it. What should I do?

Take it to the shop....

Especially if you're talking about the broken connection being on the motherboard. But, be forewarned. If this is an old computer, the repairs on something like this will likely cost you as much as a new computer.

If you don't want to take it to a shop

You'll need to fit a AGP Video Card and reset BIOS to work with other type Video Cards. While you are at it you should also change the BIOS Battery as this is getting old and when it goes flat you'll find yourself back in the same position that you are in now.

It would be better to just use a AGP Video Card.
